Lata, a San Bernardino native, began serving his community by coaching Youth Basketball. He then volunteered for the Congressional campaign of Joe Baca, Sr. Later, with his extensive background in Music, Film, and Video, he began to teach these skills to scholars at the Akoma Youth Center in S.B.’s 6th Ward. Lata is currently the Commissioner of Parks and Rec, and Community Services for the 7th Ward, and he teaches Music, Film, Video, and Podcasting skills to children in Juvenile Hall.
